BYOB $5 fee to attend. \nSix-time regional Emmy award-winner May-Lily Lee has been called “Virginia’s Storyteller” for her more than two decades of distinctive work in Virginia Public Broadcasting. She began her path in journalism by graduating at age 19 from the University of Maryland\, where she earned a scholarship as a Maryland Distinguished Scholar. She is a prominent figure in the fields of television and radio\, particularly in the state of Virginia. \nMs. Lee was Host/Senior Producer of Virginia Currents\, Host of the academic quiz show Battle of the Brains\, and Host/Producer of a number of other weekly series including Capitol Events\, Virginia Legislature: The Week\, and Women’s Forum\, in addition to documentary and live specials. She’s also moderated and paneled a number of Virginia’s gubernatorial and statewide debates. Following her work on Virginia Public Television\, Ms. Lee moved to Virginia Public Radio in Roanoke where for two years she hosted the weekly statewide talk show Virginia Conversations. DESCRIPTION:TAG will reopen for the 2025 season with a show of watercolors by beloved local artist Ann Beverly Eubank. The exhibit will open on January 31\, 2025 with a reception at TAG from 5:30 – 7pm which is free and open to the public. \nArtist’s Statement: \nBorn Ann Beverly Hundley\, I was raised on a farm in Essex County. I graduated from St. Margaret’s School and attended college in North Carolina and VCU in Richmond where I was accepted into Painting and Printmaking\, but finished with a master’s degree in education. After teaching for twenty-two years in Hanover and Essex counties I retired in Tappahannock. I began painting with a group that eventually became Tappahannock Artists Guild. Our instructor was Jack Griffin\, an accomplished watercolorist. I have continued with watercolor for over thirty years. I paint landscapes\, rivers\, creeks\, and gardens. My childhood farm and its bordering Dragon Swamp are among my favorite subjects. A show of my works opens January 31st with paintings of these subjects which I love. I am a realistic painter but take the liberty to alter a subject to emphasize the qualities that are important to me – color\, atmosphere\, light and shadow. \nThe show will be open during gallery hours\, Tuesday through Saturday from noon to 4pm through February 22\, 2025. \nThe artist will lead a demonstration of watercolor landscape painting on Thursday\, February 6 from 10am to noon. The cost will be $20 per person. Register on TAG’s website tapparts.org. \nAlso at TAG\, work by Exhibiting Artist Linda Shields will be hung on our feature wall in February. You can always see work by our Guild Artist Members in the main gallery\, which changes regularly.
