Join noted local plein air painter Cate Kauffman for a two-day introductory workshop on the essential skills and techniques of painting en plein air. An optional third day will be available for participants to practice their new skills in an outdoor setting.

About the Artist

Catherine (Cate) Kauffman, a Northern Neck-based artist, has a lifelong passion for painting. She studied with resident artists at the National Gallery of Fine Art and the National Portrait Gallery as a teenager, later earning a degree in Journalism from Radford College. Influenced by masters like Edgar Degas and John Singer Sargent, Cate specializes in portraiture, landscapes, still life, and plein air painting.

She is an instructor at the RAL Art Center in Kilmarnock, regularly exhibits her work, and has been featured in the Xanadu Art Gallery Catalog. Cate is a member of the Oil Painters of America and The Portrait Society of America.
