ACT XII Wine & Provisions
ACT XII Wine & Provisions is a wine and sandwich shop located in the heart of Tappahannock. Its name pays homage to a significant moment in Virginia’s history. In 1618, the governor of the colony, at the request of the Council of London, established the House of Burgesses to give Virginia colonists representation in local affairs. The following year, in 1619, the House of Burgesses issued a formal decree requiring households to grow grapes for wine production. This historic edict inspired the founding of ACT XII Wine & Provisions, where the belief is that wine should be enjoyed by all.

Maltese Brewing Company
Maltese Brewing Company was founded and started by Bobby Cook and Joseph Smith. Two firefighters with a passion for craft beer, which brought them together. When the two heroes were not saving homeless babies from their burning mansions, they loved getting together to create delicious home brew. A past time that the two could share while their little ones were running a muck in the house. Many home brews and band-aids later (don’t worry they’re professionals) the two decided that they could make better use of their time by finding part time jobs. After many more brewing sessions to discuss this further, they decided to sell their beer! Thus, the creation of the world’s most awesome nano-brewery began.

To Do Café
Owners Bob and Diane Lentz met in this building on 1008 Church St., back in 1975. She was a waitress at what was then the J&L Drive-In, and he had hitchhiked to Tappahannock to visit his mother. The husband-wife team, married for nearly 50 years, opened To Do Café in 2009 and named it after Diane’s dear friend, Linda McCroskey, who had a list of quirky sayings but prefaced everything positive with the words “to do.” Menu includes hand breaded oysters, onion petals, crabcakes minus filler; a mix of sandwiches from po’ boys to BBQ, specialty burgers, lunch baskets and a range of dinner entrees.
